For those of you who want to root your T-Mobile LG G5 H830, here’s a step-by-step tutorial on how to do it. You will need a Windows computer for this root method.
Step 1. Go into Settings->About phone->Software info and tap on the “Build number” about 5 times until it says, “You are now a developer”.
Step 2. Tap the back button twice and you should now see a new menu called “Developer options”, tap on that.
Step 3. Make sure both “Enable OEM unlock” and “USB debugging” is checked ON like shown below:
Step 4. Connect a USB Type C cable from your LG G5 to your computer.
Step 5. Next, download all the necessary files required for rooting. Unzip both fastboot.zip and the stock firmware TOT file. Also run the H830 DLL driver program, LG UP Software, and LG G5 USB driver programs and install them.
Step 6. Once drivers have been installed, check Device Manager to make sure they are working properly. You should see “LGE Mobile ADB Interface”.
Step 7. Open up a command prompt and type:
adb reboot bootloader
Make sure to hit “OK” when “Allow USB debugging” window pops up on your phone. You may have to repeat the last command “adb reboot bootloader” if your phone doesn’t reboot right away.
